You are, what you eat!
There are so many things we do that affect our lives in either a negative or a positive way. In general there is one thing that we automatically do every day, do not even think twice about it that is eating food. The food we eat affects us in all kinds of ways. Food is our bodies fuel and if we are not providing our bodies the right kind of fuel, guess what? our bodies are not going to be in the best condition they should be. Food affects our physical and emotional feelings. Emotions, passions and desires are all interwoven with how we feel and will have great impact in our food intake choices.
If we feel good about ourselves, we tend to be more cautious of what we eat and will tend to eat foods that are better for us. When we are feeling bad we tend to turn to comfort foods that are fattening, full of sugar and saturated fat. These bad foods give us a temporary content feeling; until the sugar high goes away then we wind up feeling stuffed or unsatisfied. Food affects our natural balance and therefore plays a vital role in how we feel. Have you ever hear “you are what you eat”? This is so true!our lives reflect what we put into our mouths. If we improve the way we eat and what we decide to eat, this will in turn have positive effects on our overall well being.
Money! Money! Money!
Everyone wants money, it is not bad to want money, it is very normal. We need money every day to buy food, clothing and shelter. It is true we can find creative ways to save money, but once in a while we need to spoil ourselves. We need to do something splendid for ourselves, just a way to thank ourselves for all the hard work we compleat as we reach the end of the week or the end of the month. When we treat ourselves well, our cup is refilled and we can go on doing more and more for others. The fact of the matter is that God is interested in money also. He asks us to give 10 percent in his name, and when we do this, we reap the benefits. More that anything He wants us to trust Him with our money, what am I saying it is His money anyway. Money comes and goes, He does want us to use our common sense to administer His(our)money. He wants us to be honest with it, since He knows everything, He can see what everyone is doing with His money. So if anyone is robbing us He is aware and He is the one who will take care of making the perfect adjustments. “Vengeance is mine” He says.
So I leave it to Him to take care of any thief. So I do not worry about the money, because I have a great watchman, who never sleeps. He can save me a lot of money! God wants us to be well, to feel good an to be satisfied, money can help us do just that, I am sure we have His blessing.

Pregnant?
Being pregnant is a wonderful thing but often time’s people don’t tell you the truth about some of the common symptoms that are not so wonderful. Morning sickness and backaches are not the only symptoms that you have to lookout for. Once you are pregnant you will start to notice your breast enlarging and they may go up a size or two and be accompanied by soreness. Once your body starts to grow you will become itchy in places like your breast and abdomen, this is because the skin is stretching to accommodate your growing shape. Another symptom is constipation; caused by the changes in digestion caused by the hormone progesterone, iron supplements and the pressure of the uterus on the rectum. So drink plenty of water, eat high fiber foods and try and exercise regularly. You may also experience heartburn in the second and third trimesters, it is best to avoid spicy foods and don’t lie down right after eating. In your third trimester you may find yourself off-balance. Your growing belly may throw you off your center of gravity due to a hormone called relaxin which is all part of your body preparing itself for labor. It tends to make expectant mothers more wobbly and achy. Despite all the negative things mentioned above, pregnancy is truly a wonderful thing. It’s a time for you to start the bonding process with your baby and once you see that bundle of joy in your hands, you will forget all the stressful things your body has just gone through.
Your baby’s future is in your hands!
It is true that when you find out you are pregnant, you must do everything you can to take care of yourself. Studies show that the way women and men take care of themselves affects their offspring. That is why it is quintessential that even before men and women participate in the miracle of creating life, take care of their bodies. It is the responsibility of the parents to guide the children from very early on to choose the right foods to put in their bodies. We do not have control over everything around us, but we can have total control over what we ingest.
There are many choices to be made as we grow up; the responsibility and privilege of choosing foods to help our future be brighter must be use to our advantage and to the advantage of our babies. It all starts with you. A healthy body is the natural source of a Continue reading
What are your next steps?
So, you just found out you are pregnant. What are your next steps? The realities of pregnancy are just beginning. Just finding out you are pregnant is an emotional moment. All of a sudden you have to begin to look ahead to a different way of life with a great deal of responsibility. If you have mixed feelings, take time out and write down all your feelings good and bad. Try and understand what and why you are feeling a certain way. Allow your feelings to exist, if you want to cry then cry. If you are happy and excited give your partner a hug. Take long walks by yourself if you feel doubtful or scared, these are feeling that many women have that you do not hear much about. Talk to someone you trust that is not your partner to discuss your feelings and emotions. This way you don’t anger, hurt or instill any fears in your partner.
The only way to start the bonding process between you and your baby is for you to start taking care of yourself. Start taking prenatal vitamins and pay attention to what you eat. Keep in mind that you are already responsible for the life and health of the baby inside of you. Take time to feel the presence of your baby inside of your body and focus on the beauty of the life growing inside of you. Interact with your baby by placing your hand on your belly and talking to them. Don’t focus or wallow in the negative emotions. Make sure you get plenty of rest you and your baby will need, it will help your body with the extreme and difficult changes.
Experiencing family time.
It is refreshing and renewing to the spirit to spend time with family. If I do not spend time with my family I do not feel complete. I just came back from spending some time with my husband. He loves driving to just about any place, unless he is really tired. One of our favorite places to go is in San Diego. Our plan was to go to the Balboa Park, however we overslept and stayed in bed longer than we should have, just talking sharing back and forth what was in our minds. Time seemed to go so fast, next think we knew half the day was almost gone! We got up to get ready to go as soon as we could. The drive was not too bad, sometimes the traffic can get in your nerves if it is very congested. We made it on time to visit with friends and to at least go out to eat. After visiting with friends, we spent some more time together, enjoyed each other’s company, and also participated in some private activities behind closed doors. What can I say, he is a man and I am a woman. It is a good thing our children are grown and we do not have to hire a babysitter. I love it!
STDs Sexually transmitted diseases on the rise!
Do our young people worry about getting STDs?
The answer to this question is a resounding NO! When you are young, you feel invulnerable, bullet proof, you think “it is not going to happen to me”.
The truth is that syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, herpes, HPV, HIV are all on the rise!
Syphilis and gonorrhea affect not only the woman, but also her fetus if she gets pregnant.
So it is very important that pregnant women be tested for STDs, as a part of their initial examination .
Most people are not ignorant about what causes these diseases, however they do not want to take responsibility. What is to blame or better yet who is to blame for this unwanted problem?
Multiple factors can be considered: alcohol consumption, peer pressure to be “progressive by participating in oral, and anal sex without using protection”. According to Jenny Higgins, Ph.D., some women consider themselves sexually progressive and consider themselves sexually afluent if they have anal sex. The truth of the matter is very sad, because the rectum lacks natural lubrication, the resulting tiny tears are perfect ports of entry for STDs. What is more deplorable and it angers me is that the inocent fetus has to pay the price. If a pregnant woman acquires syphilis and is not treated the result may be fetal death, premature labor and birth and/or congenital syphilis. So please everyone, protect yourselves and do not be “progressive”.
