Monday, May 10th, 2010

It is no secret that anxiety affects many people. Some statistics show that about forty million people in America alone, suffer from some kind of anxiety problem, making the most common mental affliction in the United states. What causes anxiety in the individual, is not fully known. The suspicion is that heredity, brain chemistry, personality and some life events have a great role to play in the whole scheme of things.
The good news is that it is treatable. Seek help, Talk therapy can be highly effective. Anti-anxiety medication can be helpful, however it is physically addictive in the sense that your body will always want it and need it once you start taking it.

Some non-drug tips you can use are: Consult a psychotherapist, join a self-help support group, use stress management techniques. Ask your doctor for suggestions. Research relaxation techniques and find the one that sooths you. Cardiovascular exercise if permitted by your physician, can have a calming effect.
Limit your caffeine intake. If you start taking any anti-anxiety medication be aware of over the counter medications or herbal remedies that may make your anxiety symptoms worse.

Know that you are not alone, please seek help. You will be more productive in everything you do, once you have your anxiety under control.

Do you like watermelon? If you do, you can save money by buying a watermelon at a good price, then as soon as you get home, cut the watermelon in pieces, or make little balls, scrape the rest of it off and put it in the blender add a pack of Cristal light pink lemonade  blend it,  freeze it, make Popsicles with it, they are delicious. They make a nice summer snack.

Another idea you may want to consider, providing you need a printer, shop around for the best deal. Some retailers match the price if you bring a note from a competitor.

A very common idea to get your money back is recycling empty plastic bottles and aluminum cans, make sure they are not contaminated, so you can get your money back.

Last but not least, get a membership card from Costco, or Sam’s club  to buy gasoline, to avoid paying the credit card company one dollar every time you use the card at the gas station.

The Powerful Chile!

Friday, April 30th, 2010

You can make the chile or pepper an addition to your grocery list and your diet. Many recipes are enhanced by it and the beautiful fact is that it is also a great home remedy. You might know the chile as pimento, mother nature provided us with over 300 varieties of chiles. Some of the most popular ones are the japapeno, piquin, guajillo, habanero; all these are very flavorful and also hot!

When you utilize chile in your recipes and eat it you will find that you can postpone illnesses such as the common cold, nasal congestion, you may reduce the possibility of some heart problems, it may prevent brain hemorrhage, and even prevent stomach ulcers. Chile is in many cases used as a natural remedy against cough, gripe, sinusitis and bronchitis. Some studies have shown that it even lowers the cholesterol level (LDL). It may be responsible for the prevention of cerebral hemorrhage, hypertension and cardiac problems.

Do not let fear keep you from chile if you have ulcers, contrary to the common believe and myth that it hurts you if you have ulcers, it fights the stomach ulcers. (It is alkaline not acid).

Just for fun have you ever looked at the ingredients in Guaifenesina, known as Robitussin? The list of ingredients include a substance that is like the one in the chile, great decongestant.

You may even want to start your own garden, plant peppers!

Do you live with Diabetes Type II?

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

We know that Diabetes has been around for a long long time. Medical scribes in the 1500 B.C. in India and in Egypt mentioned a disease declaring itself by great thirst and the passing of large amounts of sugary urine.Even back then the relationship between diabetes and sugar in the human diet was recognized.  Early treatments involved limiting the intake of sweets. Three thousand years ago India recommended strenuous exercise.

Diabetes is a very complex disease, however we can try to explain it in simple terms by saying that when we eat , something goes wrong with the way in which our body utilizes the food.  A hormone called Insulin plays a key role in helping our body to metabolize or use sugar or glucose in the blood. When our sugar level is too high damage can occur and does occur in the body. High sugar levels nourishes bacteria, it inhibits infection fighting abilities of white blood cells, slowing down your body’s ability to heal itself. Excessive glucose or sugar can damage your eyes, kidneys, nerves, blood vessels.

Taking a positive action to lower your blood sugar will greatly contribute to your health.

Normal range more than 70mg/dl, after eating should be less than 120 mg/dl. Call your doctor if your blood sugar level is less than 60 , also if your sugar level is more than 140 mg/dl.  Consult your physician.

Looking for a Job?

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

If you just lost your job, you might be feeling very discouraged; to be unemployed is one of the worse things that can come your way in your life experience. It does affect your person in many ways, your self-esteem takes a hard tumble. Perhaps you are feeling as if you were on a free fall. It is easy for those not going through your experience to give you advice and tell you ” hang in there” “you will find something”.

You might have lost your job due to a misunderstanding or due to some body’s  lies, maybe that someone did not like you or like the way you did your work or was jealous of the way you can form relationships.

The detail to remember is that there is a God who sees everything, he can read the hearts of people, he knows your heart and what is in it. He does have something, somewhere better than what you have lost. He even knew you were going to lose your job and prepared another one for you,  a job where you would be happier, in addition maybe even better  income.  God is in control, he will help you pick up the pieces, he can put you back together again.

Trust Him, He is with you always!

Kevin Trudeau

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

Kevin Trudeau, wrote some books he is promoting on TV, one of them is entitled Debt Cures. A couple of years ago I acquired one of his books. I read it carefully and applied some of the things that he suggested. Some of the things did not apply to my situation at the time. Some did, some other things included the time factor such as the PMI in a mortgage. He had some interesting and real advice that when used, I was able to save money. He suggests in the book to talk to the credit card companies to reduce your interest rate. I called the credit card companies at different times. Some of the credit card companies were responsive to my requests, others were not at the time, however I kept trying and talking to different managers they were able to find different plans to help me get rid of debt.

Kevin has now new and improved books with new information that applies to today’s market. I am planning to get his latest books. Just the other day he was advertising 3 of them for $19.00 USA dollars. The financial picture in the USA has drastically changed, it is much different than 2 years ago. I am going to have to take a close look at his suggestions in the new literature.

Performance-How to Maximize

Monday, April 26th, 2010

It is a fact that we want to be productive, we want to accomplish and to achieve something daily.
To maximize our performance we must be sensitive to our mind-body cues. When we are aware and understand our ultradian and circadian rhythms, and the shifts taking place in our thinking, mood and behaviour, we can greatly enhance our productivity, effectiveness and also our creativity.
We need to know when our minds are more alert, because is then when our mental capacity, memory and interpersonal skills are at the highest level.
Ultradian periods are broken into 90 to 120 minutes, our minds want to take a 20 minute break.
Some research has shown that the ultradian rhythms of the mind-body affect our performance in all our activities such as verbal and spatial skills, eye-hand coordination, vigilance, imagination, creativity, concentration, short term memory, mental alertness.
Once you understand your “biological hour” your can apply it to your own life and enhance your performance through the day.
Know when, at what time of the day you are at your peak for learning and working.
Know and notice when you are starting to make mistakes, these things tell you that you need to take a break. It is healthy and for your safety to take a break.
