There is a big difference between a 7 year old and a 9 year old, their thinking process is different.
Parents are to protect their children, and they are responsible for their children’s safety. Someday they will have to give an account to God of what they did or did not do to guide and teach their children how to keep themselves safe. As parents we are charged to encourage children to be independent thinkers. This age group between 7-10 year old are extremely realistic and literal and require clear cut guidelines of what is right and wrong. This is the best time to teach them to be morally responsible.
Children need a strong foundation on which to build their lives.
This is the time when they need the opportunity of making good choices. Parents need to be available to help the children understand why the decision they have chosen to act on is good or bad.
They need to be made very aware of choices and consequences.
Children generally speaking are aware of the fact that there are consequences to their actions, even very early on, however when they are older 7-10 years old, they will remember even more, and learn from their experiences in life.
