Health and Life vs Disease and Death!

September 14th, 2010

After reading this post, your life can not remain the same. First of all you are your own boss, when it comes to what kinds of things you eat, and drink. You are also your own boss when it comes to your body’s activity level. Life is about choices made and to be made, and progressively being made. In parenthesis once you reach the point of death, you have no more choices, it is irreversible.  Today is the day you can make a difference in your own life, you might not know it but you are very important to those around you. Your choices do affect others, they can turn into a cascade of events that modify other individuals lives, for the better or for the worse.

Choosing the right foods for your body, keeps your body healthy, it can give you clarity of thought. It is nature’s way to give you your reward. Rewards are not punishments, they are considered consequences. I like the idea of a good consequence, thus a good reward.

To have good health, we must walk the walk, not just talk the talk. If we do not have good habits  and we disregard the  critical principles of health by overeating, drinking the wrong things, dressing inappropriately for the weather, working without a deserved rest, we can not blame God or others for our diseases and near death events.

Take  time to with a critical eye, examine your actions or choices, know that good health can not be bought with money, other things in life you can not buy, and those are: true friends, time and much searched peace of mind.

What’s in your head?

September 4th, 2010

Your brain! Your brain is important to you. Cultivate your brain to help your brain function better.
When riding a bicycle or a motorcycle wear a helmet.
Stay hydrated, eat a balanced diet, mindful of protein and carbohydrate balance.
Fight the ANT’s ( automatic negative thoughts).
Actively focus on the things your heart is grateful for today.
Watch a feel good movie such  as Nannie McPhee.
Use your time wisely, spend time with those you want to emulate, preferably positive uplifting and productive people.
Keep your brain cool by getting enough sleep and rest. A cool brain is a good brain.
Remember that what you say to others must be in a loving, helpful manner.
Help someone else build an amazing library of wonderful experiences.
When you talk to other individuals establish eye contact and smile as appropriate. Use appropriate touch when touching others. Learning a new word or a new skill to enhance your memory is great for your brain.

What should you avoid? Avoid alcohol, smoke, too much caffeine when pregnant if you are a woman.
Avoid hitting a soccer ball with your head. Avoid banging your head against the wall. Avoid blaming other people for your problems. Something you must avoid is saying yes or no to others before finding out what they are looking for. You must know what they want first, does it fit with your goals?

Your brain  is a delicate and amazing master piece of design, you must take good care of it.

Experiencing money challanges?

September 2nd, 2010

More ways to save money. Recently I was reading in the “Penny Saver” more ways to save money, one interesting way I found is using coupons if you are recycling bottles and cans; to add to your savings coupons have been posted for you, with the various recycling center locations where you can bring your recyclable cans, bottles and even newspapers to the recycling center when you turn in your cans and plastic bottles. Check it out. You will be able to get more money for your items.

One more way to save money in a big way is to shop around if you are in need of auto parts. Usually auto parts are more expensive if you get them from the auto dealer, because the company has so much overhead to cover. I have bought from stores like Auto Zone, they are usually pretty good at saving you money, sometimes by 60%. If you know a good mechanic who is honest and can give you a reasonable price for his or her labor, you can save a bundle of money. For instance if your car is leaking oil and you find out that you need to change the oil pan, some dealers sell the oil pan for more than 100.00 dollars, the auto-parts store sells it for less than 50%. You just have to do your homework, this way your buck will buy more, and you will be able to meet the challenge. It sure helps decrease your stress level, if you can save money!

It is very painful when you have to pay 600.00 dollars for something that can be done for 125.00 dollars.

Understanding others, why not? Part 2

August 29th, 2010

When we have a glimpse of the mark differences in the workings of our brains, we can be more lenient and tolerant of other individuals behavior. We can also have more understanding and empathy as we come across people with brains that work a little bit differently.
How can we help other people with brains that are different, perhaps we need to study more about the subject, to allow us to be more sensitive as we become more informed. It is a two way street, we learn more about it and we benefit from that knowledge. When we are aware of the behaviors elicited by the people who are afflicted by the atypical brain conditions, and are able to save ourselves and others from explosive situations. One example could be our ability to discern when we are faced with  someone with a particular brain condition such as dyslexia; if we are trying to help them learn reading and writing, we will not get easily frustrated, because we will be able to realize that they have difficulty learning, names, even the letters of the alphabet, difficulty reading single words that are not in context, we will be able to save time and energy understanding that they have difficulty with reading and comprehension. We will not be frustrated, but be compassionate as we make an effort to help them.

Understanding others, why not? Part One.

August 22nd, 2010

We are all different, due to diversity of our brains. Have you noticed that some people are lefties, other people are righties? Have you the opportunity to work with people who are diagnosed as having attention deficit and hyperactivity, alcoholics, dyslexics, people who have photographic memory, depressed people?Have you an acquaintance who has an autistic child, or who has adopted an autistic child?
The brain is one of the master pieces of creation, however when affected by foreign substances such as lead poisoning, this causes damage to the prefrontal lobes. Researchers at Pittsburgh  University  have discovered a link between  children with lead posoning  and children who have been convicted for legally delinquent behavior.Studies are underway to see if there is the same kind of correlation between lead poisoning  and  children diagnosed  as afflicted by ADHD.

There is a misconception about the quality and quantity of our brain cells. People use to think that our brain cells had their peak when we were born. We  have learn that our brain development happens after birth, well after birth.  We could say that our brain is in “evolution”. After we are born the brain continues to grow and develop. The frontal cortex part of the brain according to some researchers  reaches its growth completeness when the person reaches his or her mid-twenties, could even be later. So considering these facts, we can understand why we make poor judgements between the ages of 18 and 26.

Respect is the key!

August 17th, 2010

No one knows for certain what was the true cause for the twin towers collapse. The present reality is that these towers are gone and they took with them many precious innocent people. Those people, left behind their families to morn their loss. Each individual lost can never be brought back, can never be replaced by another human being. The void left in each person left behind will always be there to remind the person of the loss.
At this point and time there is nothing that can be done to replace people. A building can be rebuilt, but the lives of individuals are impossible to recreate, only God can do that.

Whom should be mention as a culprit or the source of all the suffering brought by the twin towers collapse?
In my mind there is one culprit.

A wise men said once that between individuals as well as between nations the respect to the rights of others yields peace. This nugget of knowledge should never be ignored. It can make the difference between life and death, between happiness and unhappiness, between right and wrong, between what is mine and what is yours.
In conclusion, the lack of RESPECT from whomever did the evil act on the USA is the ultimate cause.

Now the least we can do, is to pay our respect to those left behind for their irreplaceable loss.

Do you feel exhausted today?

August 6th, 2010

I am sure you have heard about the natural remedies, that can help restore your body by giving you vibrant life! Exposure to a safe level of sunlight, drinking water also considering a healthy fluid level, exercise such as walking or some other kind of exercise age appropriate, good nutrition, adequate rest, relaxation, trust in divine power, a power higher than oneself, perhaps you can think of other elements.

When our lifestyle is such that is requiring constant peak performance,  we can get very frustrated in various ways. We can extremely tax our body, therefore causing further imbalances at a mental and emotional level due to stress. Depending on our personality type we are able to respond to situations that come our way.I am referring to the well known A and B personality Types. A Type personality, competitive, aggressive, ambitious, impatient and also restless , not very good listener. B Type personality  more laid back.

My suggestion to you and to me is to sit down and analyse which is your dominant personality, perhaps you have both types.  Regardless of your personality type, you are responsible for your life and health, you have to come up with a plan that will work for you. Find a way to revitalize your system.   My humble suggestion is to sit down and place your right hand on your forehead and your left on the back of your head, take deep cleansing breaths for about 3 minutes, you will be amazed at the results. If you have a friend or a partner to do this for you is even more pleasant.

Good bye exhaustion!

Be willing to make mistakes!

July 28th, 2010

Learning a new language is an opportunity to make mistakes that are  not costly, however it will pay dividends later in life. At first glance, learning a new language may seem a bit intimidating because of all the new words, tenses, verbs, and grammar that you must learn in order to be fluent. Learning that unfamiliar language does not have to be intimidating, remember one basic fact, every language whether it be Spanish, Japanese, German, Arabic, and even English has grammatical patterns. Find those patterns and you will be well on your way to learning and speaking a new language. The best way to do that is to get a grammar book for the particular language, because grammar is an important component, when you are interested in the writing element. At second glance, if you already speak  another language closely related to the one you wish to learn, for instance, Spanish, and if you know its grammar, learning a third or fourth language such as Portuguese, or Italian, will increase your learning ability, since the three have a common root : Latin.

Latin was the spoken language of the Romans. Spanish, Portuguese, Italian have similar grammatical structure. Be encouraged, by the facts that your brain is amazing and you can learn a new language. Learning a new language does not have to be intimidating, look for the language  patterns and be willing to make mistakes. Love learning.

Dyslexia, the young and the old…

July 25th, 2010

In the end experiences are  all you have. That is all there is. It is what it is. You can not change it, you can not live it again, you can live it only once, however no one can take that experience away from you.
Your brain is a mysterious computer, it is actually “brains”, multiple lobes.
Your brains, can capture images, and at the same time store those images in their memory bank. These memories turn to be precious treasures that contribute and are counted as responsible for your sense of identity, who you are and how you connect to other people around you. Your experiences in life are a key catalyst in making you who you are.

Look in the mirror at your eyes and pretend you can see behind your eyes, and underneath the temples, that is the place of memory and image storage. All these memories and images air you and help you define your sense of self.
Just think of those memories and images, they give you your joys and your sorrows. They play a great role in every action you undertake.
Use your brain effectively, read, expand your horizons, exercise your brains, pay attention when you read, so you can remember what you have read. If you are having trouble reading and can not understand what you have read, seek help from a professional, DYSLEXIA could be the culprit, there is help. Dyslexia can be inherited also. Do not sit still, look for someone to help you.
